What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is an independent registered primary health care profession which offers highly successful treatment for:

  • back pain
  • neck pain
  • joint pain and discomfort
  • headaches and prevention of migraine

The effectiveness of chiropractic treatments are detailed in the 2009 NHS National Institute and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines and the 2010 Bronfort report.

What to expect?

On your first visit you will receive a comprehensive case history review and physical examination so that the cause and diagnosis of your condition can be obtained. Should further investigations be required to assist this process, (for example x-ray or MRI scan) then this can be arranged by your chiropractor.

Treatment will start with your consent and this could involve a number of different therapies. Chiropractors use specific adjustments /manipulations of the spine or joints of the body which help mobilise joints, increase the efficiency of the nervous system and enhance the body’s natural healing process.

Chiropractors at the Hardwicke & Quedgeley Chiropractic Clinic are also trained to use other treatment modalities such as:

  • Dry needle therapy (a form of acupuncture)
  • Rocktape (a type of kinesio tape)
  • Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisations
  • Expert Muscle Testing

Each treatment programme will be tailored to each individual’s condition and need, and a short course of rehabilitation is usually prescribed following the programme of treatment which helps to prevent problems reoccurring.

Is chiropractic regulated?

All chiropractors at our clinic are registered with the General Chiropractic Council, which lawfully regulates the chiropractic profession. Anna Hawrot & Alec Dolman are also members of the British Chiropractic Association which is the largest chiropractic association in the UK.
